Well it’s Friday, the Pixelapes office has been plagued all week by, well, the plague. I noticed that we’ve written 44 posts on the site since we started the blog1, and I realised that every single post has been leaning toward a serious tone. We’re always writing about business related things, web design in Ireland, boring coding issues, and realistically, the majority of people want stupid things – cute puppy dogs up close through a wide angle lens, people getting kicked in the groin, things to which they can reply, LOL!!!, OMG!!! and so on.
No one needs the dull and informative articles we write. Now, I’m not going to stoop to any of the stupid things I mentioned a second ago, but there’s the amusing image above (taken by Miskan) of the best placement of a CCTV camera I’ve ever seen, and both of the following, slightly-nerdy-but-amusing-nonetheless items:
The Stupid Email Address
So I’ve just signed up to what is probably the best domain name and free webmail service that I’ve ever come across:
http://www.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com
The website at ABCDE… etc is a project developed by DHSoftwares.com. It’s been around since 2004 and I’ve never heard of it! You can get an email address at this stupid domain name for free too. So if you’re interested feel free to mail me at:
alexleonard@abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com
I can almost guarantee you’ll never get a reply. Can you imagine though, for those times you get someone on the phone and they want to follow up with an email.
My mail address? Sure it’s alexleonard, that’s all one word, ‘at’, I better spell the next bit, it’s ‘a’, ‘b’….’c', ‘d’, ‘e’, ‘f’,
… ad infinitum. I wonder how long they would hold out for – sometimes it’s amazing what people will put up with, which neatly brings me on to:
Ringing In Sick
Apt in a few ways, I’d like to post up this video by DogMedia Productions. Andy Keogh is part of this crowd and anything of theirs I’ve watched has always provided much amusement.
This is a documentary following a group of people who get hired for jobs and then proceed to call in sick every single day to see just how far they can push it. There’s some great one-liners in here – “I have yeah, eh, I’ve experienced buying and selling, eh, stuff”, “How late do you think you’ll be? Eh, Thursday, or eh, Friday”.
It’s fairly long, but worth a watch, if just for that thing of “How much will people put up with?”, and I love the ending. Priceless. You can watch it in a larger window on Google Video if you want.

Aye. It’s a good one that.
Amazing what people will put up with if you say it in a serious tone of voice.
